The start of WWZN’s Eddie and the Jag man program was broadcast live to all Sporting News Radio affiliates across the country (400+) to celebrate Boston as the best sports city in North America. (As reported yesterday by John Molori’s Media Blitz) Mayor Menino was on the show to lead off the broadcast. I don’t think this warrants at all the “huge announcement” status that it was getting yesterday. Eddie concluded one segment by saying the loss last night “was a tough blow, we’ll be right back to blow some more in a moment.”.

WEEI had Sean McAdam filling in for Bob Neumeier to team up with Dale Arnold. Topics were the Red Sox and Bobby Bowden’s adoption of the term “Let’s roll” for the FSU football team this season. The term was taken from the foundation named after the man who yelled “Let’s Roll” as passengers charged hijackers aboard a flight last Sept. 11. The foundation said yesterday that it’s honored Florida State’s football team adopted the saying as its motto. Dale feels it’s insensitive to use the term, and unfair that people around the FSU program are going to make money off the name of the foundation.

Briefly from the papers…Michael Gee says that the fans are too rough on Grady, and then admits that they are “egged on, I’m sorry to say, by media members who should know better” Steve Buckley shows off his knowledge of history by pointing out how much tonight’s Lowe-Zito matchup is like that famed Sonny Siebert-Vida Blue matchup between the A’s and Red Sox on May 28, 1971. Mike Shalin gets Terrence Long’s thoughts on his snatch of Manny’s deep drive last night. Gordon Edes says the bottom of the Sox rotation isn’t as bad as some people (Neumeier) might say it is. George Kimball catches up with a healthy Ted Johnson.

Fox25 has Red Sox/A’s at 7:00 (ATT3 in Western MA) TBS has Braves/Cardinals at 6:00. ESPN has Jets/Steelers preseason football at 8:00.
