Well, Kedrick Brown certainly looked like Paul Pierce at times in tonight’s Shaw’s Summer League game against Washington on ESPN2. Brown hit threes, he dunked, he converted offensive rebounds, he stole the ball, he loudly blocked a shot to halfcourt, he pretty much did it all tonight. In 33 minutes he was 7-15 from the floor for 21 points, (2-5 from three point land) 6 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals. He also guarded the Wizards top pick Jared Jeffries for much of the game, and Jeffries only managed 6 points in 28 minutes. Summer league, yes. Encouraging, definitely. Joe Forte had 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Big (and I mean BIG) Oliver Miller made it into the game for 12 minutes and scored 2 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. The guy is so big, but his skills are obvious. I hope they give him an extended look. Announcers Leo Rautins and Mark Jones did spend much of the game focusing on Brown and his unique skills.
FSNE’s New England Sports Tonight was broadcasting from the WEEI Celebrity Golf Classic, among the guests were Dennis and Callahan, (John Dennis wants an ugly MLB strike to make them start all over) Comedian Lenny Clarke and Andre Tippett from the Patriots.
