The Celtics season is over and it’s right into fulltime Red Sox talk on WEEI. The talk did turn for a time to steroids after a caller, “Justin” who claimed to be a Division III football player made the assertation that 75-85% of Division III football players use steroids. Dale and Neumy were in disbelief over this claim. Justin said that the drugs do not increase performance, just appearance, and that that is the edge that many of the athletes seek. That by making themselves bigger, the coaches will be impressed and other players intimidated. He said at that level, players want to get to the next level and that is the biggest reason for the use. He said use is less in Division I due to random testing.
