The home of the Boston Celtics, Comcast SportsNet, reports that the Boston Celtics-Cleveland Cavaliers telecast was the network’s highest rated first game telecast in history.

Celtics vs. Cavaliers achieved a 5.6 household rating and reached an estimated 246,000 homes in the region. The telecast peaked at an 8.6 household rating or 378,000 New England homes during the closing moments of the fourth quarter.

While the Celtics-Cavaliers telecast was the Celtics’ second game of the season and the game competed with the opening game of the World Series, the telecast outperformed any season opening telecast in the network’s 30-year history. The previous first game highs were 4.7 household ratings in 1999 and 2009.
