A night after the Celtics went into Philadelphia and defeated the Sixers, the Bruins came in and posted a 3-1 win over the Flyers.

Kevin Paul Dupont and Steve Conroy have the Bruins taking advantage of a little help from the Flyers to get the win. Joe Haggerty has David Krejci getting back on track last night with a goal and an assist. Mike Loftus has the Bruins not worried about a letdown tonight in Ottawa.

Dupont’s notebook has the Oilers scouting the Bruins as a possible trade partner. Conroy’s notebook has Shawn Thornton taking a puck in the head last night.

Celtics

The Lakers are in town tonight for the second of two regular season meetings between last year’s NBA finalists.

Bill Burt says that the Celtics better win, or else. Tim Weisberg says that a few more meetings between these two teams is likely to happen. Steve Buckley has Larry Bird and Magic Johnson with plenty to say about the Celtics/Lakers matchup and rivalry. Dan Shaughnessy says that the Celtics/Lakers rivalry can’t be topped. Robert Lee says that tonight’s matchup is must-see TV. Jim Fenton has the two old rivals renewing acquaintances once again.

Marc J. Spears notes that the Lakers will again be without Andrew Bynum. Steve Bulpett says that this game is just for fun tonight, and fans should enjoy it. Frank Dell’Apa has the Celtics eager for this test. Pat Gilroy has the Celtics still battling the flu bug. Mike Fine has the Celtics just worried about themselves tonight. Jeff Howe is ready for a finals preview.

Thompson’s notebook has the Celtics once again putting a winning streak on the line against the Lakers. Get more Celtics links and stories at CelticsLinks.com.

Today is the first day that NFL teams can designate a franchise player. Mike Reiss says that the Patriots are likely to apply that tag to Matt Cassel sometime in the next two weeks. He looks at the Patriots history of using the tag. Michael Felger tries to determine what Cassel is going to be worth on the market.
