It’s a stormy day here in New England, causing a lot of delays everywhere, including here.

We’ve got a BSMW Game Day Roundtable posted for the first day of NFL free agency.

Adam Schefter of NFL Network was on WEEI’s Dennis & Callahan this morning and said that the Patriots are the “leading contenders” for linebacker Adalius Thomas and he expects them to make this “big splash” within the next 24-48 hours.

Of course, I also have people telling me (I didn’t see it myself) that Schefter was on TV last night saying that Thomas to the 49ers was a “no-brainer.” (Someone else says Schefter merely said it was a “reasonable fit” between Thomas and the 49ers due to the linebacker’s connection to head coach Mike Nolan.)

Don Banks says it is between the Patriots and the 49ers.

Eric McHugh has a pretty good Patriots free agency preview. Alan Greenberg says that the Patriots will be focusing on linebacker depth in free agency.

Michael Silverman has a mini-feature on Manny Ramirez and his drive to be a great hitter. Haven’t seen many of these style articles about Manny during his tenure here.

We’ll have a weekend post up later this afternoon…
