I don’t know about you, but I’m a little sick of the stories and talk that Tom Brady owns the Pittsburgh Steelers. I take a little solace in that fact that Brady himself isn’t buying it.

Sure, these aren’t the 2008 Steelers here, but they’re more than capable of beating the Patriots on Sunday. Maybe it’s the bye week, or all of the Red Sox drama, but this game is getting shockingly little play around here. Its seems a given in many quarters that the Patriots will win, always a dangerous position to take.

  1. The Pittsburgh game isn't getting a lot of play for several reasons. The Pats beat them pretty handily behind 5 Worthlessberger sacks last year, the Pats 6-2 record against them (including playoffs) during the BB/TB era, and that this game really won't factor into a tie-breaker because, other than being an AFC team, they're not a common opponent with anyone in the division.

  3. I don't really know what the two of you were expecting. With the exception of maybe 4 1/2 people (Reiss, Rap, Curran, Gurigian and maybe Bedard) no one in the Boston Media understands how to cover the Pats. They do not understand the questions to ask, the angles to cover or how to discuss a team that expects and demands excellence from its employees and players. The Pats at 5-1 are not a story because it is not a fluke…been there done that…people are now saying win a playoff game and I will pay attention. This is because the commentators don't know how to drive conversation unless it negative. They can't build a 1 hour segment that is interesting on x's and o's because they don't know how. A guy like Curran should be gold to one of these stations because he finds the quirky and can talk intelligently about it for hours. A woman like Gurigian is gold for the Herald because she finds interesting stories beyond the field that lead back to the field. However for someone like D & C or Gresh and Zo they are incapable of not resorting to gossip or the negative to discuss this team. Someone like Shalise Young whines about access or only does good work when there is something salacious because she doesn't have the knowledge or work ethic to develop her own perspective. The negative story is easy because it writes itself. So its much easier to talk about a non existent apology (which was not needed because taking a picture with a woman, regardless of her occupation, who is fully dressed…is not illegal, immoral, or embarrassing to the organization…at most it might be ironic) is easier than actually talking about whether Marcus Canon will be put on the 53 man roster…why? because the talking heads can't get any real information on that topic.

    Its not Pittsburgh that is not generating any media…its the pats efficiency at controlling information and their continued success. It would not matter who they are playing this week…until they lose a few games…the "reporters" in this town will not be creative enough to find and present stories that are interesting enough to generate conversation. They aren't that competent.

      They must have dedicated at least 15 minutes per hour that I was flipping back and forth (stuck with ESPN when I paid attention) on this. I thought D+C weren't overreacting to stories or is that only when it's the RedSox?

      On a sidenote, they apparently made some "#3 of best sports shows" from Bleacher Report in the nation from one of the silly, unscientific polls they constantly post. I stopped reading this site years ago because it was beyond silly and had 0 journalism but they took solace in this. Upon further viewing it, the first comment below this #3 article talked about T+R beating them in the ratings.

  4. Could have something to do with the fact that usually mouthy Steelers have been amazingly quiet this week. It's strange that the Steelers have taken a back seat to the Ravens in that department this year.

    1. I guess a few of them, and some Pittsburgh media enablers, have been bringing up Spygate again in the last couple of days. Because, you know, if the Pats hadn't filmed their defensive signals Pittsburgh's offense wouldn't have turned the ball over a combined 7 times in those two AFC title game losses, and their special teams wouldn't have allowed two TDs in the 2001 title game. That team has been by far the biggest bunch of whiners about the whole Spygate witch hunt, and apparently, some of them are STILL talking about it. Unreal.

  5. Maybe its because the media and some fairweather fans decided on Week 1 that this team is fatally flawed and they’ll fail eventually. The fan in me refuses to believe that, but so far this season is similar to last year. I don’t think the media will talk about this team until January.
