The Bruins look to start their return to the Stanley Cup Finals with the opening game of their first round series against the Detroit Red Wings tonight at TD Garden.

This will be the first meeting in the playoffs between these two original six franchises since 1957. Prior to that, these teams were regular postseason opponents.

We went over the NESN coverage yesterday afternoon, CSNNE will once again also have pre and post-game shows. As in the last few years, the shows will be led by Michael Felger and Tony Amonte, and Joe Haggerty, Mike Giardi and Kevin Walsh will have reports from the games.

Due to CSN’s relationship with NBC, the station will also have access to and interviews with the broadcast team of Jeremy Roenick, Keith Jones, Pierre McGuire, Mike “Doc” Emrick and Ed Olczyk.

  1. I have to assume that both stations will also ramp up their guests/coverage. Jack usually winds up on WEEI (2-6) and F+M bring in Haggs, etc. Last year, I thought both stations did their best to offer great coverage, so you have to expect the same.   3. off topic here, but regarding the NFL draft does anything scream, “NOTHING TO SEE HERE” louder than, “player A visited team B” reports?…..I’ll answer this one myself…NO

    1. With certain teams, no. Is it some harbinger for other teams? Sure.

      I follow @WalterFootball, who despite the site looking like he’s using Frontpage 98, keeps a DB of all of this. What is its ‘value’? Being interesting. That’s about it.

      However, with the absolute craze going on with the NFL Draft–and it grows each year–people take advantage of it, and I think the better analysts know how to properly formulate it.

      But, like all this draft stuff, it as useless as Mel Kiper’s 143.0 BETA3 draft. Right after the actual draft is done, Deadspin usually posts how wrong these guys are. I know nobody can predict it but you can be more outlandish when there is no skin in the game.

      1. yep…guess it’s just in the way some of the “visits” are reported. So breathlessly, like it’s BREAKING NEWS! or something….sure,some players will get drafted by teams they visited, just as many won’t. …
