Just announced by WEEI, former Patriots Linebacker Tedy Bruschi, a current ESPN NFL analyst, will join The Big Show with Glenn Ordway and Michael Holley every Monday for “Patriots Monday”. Ordway, Holley and Bruschi will interview Patriots head coach Bill Belichick so this apparently means the end of maddening softball questions by both Fred Smerlas and Steve DeOssie. Then again with Bruschi there, I’m not sure if he’s willing to ask hard questions of the coach either. Anyway, it’s a whole new cast for “Patriots Monday” for the Big Show with Ordway being the lone holdover.

Former New England Patriot Tedy Bruschi joins the WEEI Sports Radio Network

July 26, 2011 (Boston, MA) – The WEEI Sports Radio Network announced today that former New England Patriots linebacker and current ESPN NFL analyst, Tedy Bruschi, will join the station as part of its Patriots coverage this fall.

Bruschi will join co-hosts Michael Holley and Glenn Ordway during The Big Show on “Patriots Monday,” from 4pm to 6pm, and be part of their interview with Coach Bill Belichick each week beginning August 15th. Bruschi was drafted by the New England Patriots in 1996 out of the University of Arizona and played his entire career with the team before retiring in 2008. He was a member of each of the Patriots three Super Bowl winning teams in 2001, 2003 and 2004.

Additionally, WEEI will support the efforts of “Tedy’s Team,” through a series of fundraising ventures over the course of the season. “Tedy’s Team,” is a group of runners raising money for the American Stroke Association and training to complete the Boston Marathon® and the Falmouth Road Race. Their participation supports Tedy Bruschi’s fight against strokes and honors both the survivors and the loved ones lost to America’s No. 3 leading cause of death.

“Tedy was a terrific player for the Patriots and is an excellent broadcaster for ESPN,” said Jason Wolfe, Vice-President of Programming for WEEI. “He’ll be an outstanding addition to our fall football lineup and I’m excited to be able to work with him. I’m also extremely proud to use the power of our station to support ‘Tedy’s Team, and I hope we can continue to bring awareness to this great cause.”

  1. Great player, mediocre analyst. He'll give some good insight but when I watch him on ESPN nothing stands out. Just another talking head. Now if this had been Rodney Harrison joining WEEI, then I'd be a bit more excited.

  3. This is the first really good move by the "new" Big Show. Bruschi is astute and will give superb analysis — I agree we'll have to see how he interacts with Belichick, but it'll surely be a more interesting interview than with Fred and Steve.

    Felger is already at it today btw talking about the Jets and how they're not going to be "dismantled" by the cap — as if anyone, anywhere is arguing that!

  5. Curious to hear if Fred & Steve are being phased out entirely at EEI – will they still be part of Patriots Friday? I imagine they'll still be part of CSN's Tailgate show with Ordway along with their respective Sunday night TV shows.

    Speaking of football shows, 98.5 should try luring Tom Curran away from EEI by offering him a segment or two on the Pats pregame show, which would be a win/win for listeners because it would automatically reduce airtime for Gresh and Zolak.

  6. Geez NE Tailgate down the drain? how can they replace that self-produced, 0.2 rating gem. today is just another red X on Jason's calendar until they can get out of Ordway's contract, assuming he doesnt get canned himself before that magic day

  7. I think it says a lot for WEEI's Patriots coverage when the competing station gets access to the players and coach and NOT the PATRIOTS FLAGSHIP STATION! Is there any further evidence anyone needs that WEEI all but stops short of actually performing fellatio on Belichick. I think it's a shame that the flagship FM station can't get any of the players and coaches while their competition does. What it shows is that the HUB actually has integrity in their coverage and WEEI thinks that simply having another over exposed Patriots legend is going to somehow translate into higher ratings. I know I will still make Felger's show my go to destination after Patriots games.

  8. So let me get this straight. Bill Belichick will now be asked questions by both Michael Holley and Tedy Bruschi? And you all thought Fred and Steve asked softballs. I think Tedy does a pretty good job on ESPN. He might even do well in 4 hours on WEEI. But there is no way we will get anything out of Bill Belichick with Brushi and Holley asking questions. I don't know how WEEI did it but Glen Ordway will now be the most objective journalist in that interview.

  9. I guess WEEI must believe they have to bring in celebrity outsiders to stop the bleeding because none of the talent they have in-house and under contract is going to turn things around . . . I've so moved on from Ordway and the Big Show even if they pair him with Holley or Bruschi or whoever; it doesn't matter. If you put whip cream on dogsheet it still stinks. Now if they replaced Oddball with Tom E. Curran and Bruschi along with Belichick for Patriots Monday; that might get me to turn my dial back to EEI for a few hours.
