Boston Globe Bruins beat reporter Fluto Shinzawa is next on the list for approval ratings.
Shinzawa joined the Globe in 2002, and has been the Boston Bruins beat reporter for the last couple of seasons. Before taking on the Bruins beat, Shinzawa had been the top college hockey writer for the Globe, anchoring much of the Hockey East coverage at the paper.
Shinzawa is a 1999 Boston University graduate, and prior to coming to the Globe had served as a senior editor for the RobbReport.

Oops… you mean to tell me that there is still a hockey team named the Bruins in this town? I thought they migrated to the Carolinas in the mid-90’s.

Really need a third option besides approve/disapprove. Something like, no opinion. Now to see the poll results I have vote on someone I know nothing about. Makes for bogus poll results from Boston’s media watcher.

Why comment if you know nothing about Shinzawa? He is an excellent writer who is capable of imparting a deeper understanding of the game to even knowledgeable hockey fans.

Fluto is not as peppy a writer as KPD, but he is better as a reporter. He actually seems to have an interest in the game, and writes some illuminating articles about tactics. An inquiring mind.
Where I fault him is in not paying enough attention to the rest of the Bruins’ system, the prospects who are a year or two away from the lineup. (I doubt KPD could even name more than a couple.)He needs to develop more sources in front offices around the league and among agents and scouts.
